The Sirhowy and Ebbw rivers have both improved dramatically since the decline of heavy industry with good stocks of wild brown trout and even salmon and sea trout(sewin)being caught.At present i do not have any contact information for the upper reaches of these rivers (although a trout angler from Abertillery recently told me that it is free, i would recommend extreme caution in this as ignorance of any law(s) being broken would not be a defence in a court of law).If anyone has any information on this please email me from the link below. However, Islwyn and District Angling Club control much of the Sirhowy river from Cross Keys to Blackwood and The river Ebbw for several miles in the Rhymney Valley.For information on permits telephone 01495 221 881
