Coniston lake

Esthwaite

Hayeswater Reservoir
Hayeswater reservoir is a 34 acre tarn set high in the fells above Hartsop.Hayeswater is supposed to hold the famous Loch Leven trout stocked by the ‘yellow Earl’.Whatever the case these are exceptionally good fighting fish.Although it is a mile and a half walk you might see the occasional red deer,golden eagle or even a otter in the area of truly outstanding natural beauty.Trout average a pound to a pound and a half and if you catch one you will know that these are truly wild fish.Any sporting fisherman should adehere to the catch and release policy as this is certainly one of Cumbria’s best natural assets.Contact Collin Bell on 01768 482057.
