The original Invicta Fly for trout fishing was invented by James Ogden of England in the late 1800’s. All of today’s variants stem from his original pattern. The Invicta Fly is a great all round wet fly both for lake and river trout fishing. It really comes into its own when fished in the shallows, slowly, when Sedges are in evidence. The Invicta Fly is an excellent fly for warm summer evenings. I fish the Invta Fly just below the waters surface using an intermediate line and find that trout will sometime take the fly as soon as it hits the water. The Invicta Fly represents an hatching Sedge Fly and is a great attractor pattern that is used by anglers all round the World.
