Dunkeld Fly-Trout Flies-Wet Flies |
|
The Dunkeld fly is named after the Town of Dunkeld on the River Tay in Scotland where it originated. The Dunkeld Fly is a good attractor pattern for rainbow and sea trout. Cast as a small fish imitator, it is highly regarded a sea trout fly and it has also worked well for me for brown trout on summer evenings. The Dunkeld fly is in fact a scaled down version of an old feathered winged salmon fly of the same name and is best fished on the point of a three fly set up in sunny conditions. If you notice that trout are feeding on Daphina its definitely a good time to fish the Dunkeld Fly. The Dunkeld Fly also has the advantage that it can be fished throughout the whole of the trout fishing season. |
