Cow Dung Fly-Trout Flies-Dry Flies |
|
The cow dung fly or dung fly lays it eggs in cow dung, horse dung and sheep dung. The cow dung fly mimics these cattle flies and is an old fly pattern that was traditionally only fished on windy days when the wind would be the only cause of blowing the natural flies into the water. However, that being so there may be a good case for also using such flies on windless days when the lack of the real flies may provide a trout angler with the opportunity of offering a trout an irresistible treat. The cow dung fly first hatch from May onwards until late Summer. |
